Why most people in a home business fail is lack of marketing skills. Here is the lies that the industry is telling people.

• Duplicate and you will be sucessful. Wrong! the only thing that has ever been duplicated in the history of marketing is failure.
• Show and tell your friends and family they will be excited. that is a lie. In fact most of time your friends and family have no interest and you end up in the NFL or no friends left club. Show and tell is great for kids you are in pre school to about first grade.
• We will close all your sales for you, so you can sit back and relax. Amazing that most people never made any money after 6 months which is more than plenty of time for other people to see your site.
• Just pay for the automated system every month and it will do all the work for you. Instead people end up spending more money keeping the automated system then they do making sales. The only people making money are the ones selling the automated system.
• Buy expensive leads and call them. These leads are hot responsive waiting for your call. The truth is a lead is a lead and just cause you pay more does not guarantee better results. In fact you could pay top dollar for leads that have no interest in what you are promoting and less responsive than a cheap lead. If you are going to call leads then generate your own targeted leads or get them as cheaply as possible. Cheap leads are only good for people who have excellent phone communication skills and can be an effective way to present your business.

However there is a better way than buying and calling leads, especially if its like the plague for most people. Social networks and utilizing web 2.0 is how leaders have attracted people to come to them instead of chasing everyone.
